While the world’s film press was partying (and squeezing in a few films) in Cannes, half a world away, Keith Richards turned up in Disneyland for the World Premiere of “Pirates of the Carribbean: At World’s End” on Saturday night. Some 2000 people who paid $1,500 a pop — proceeds went to the Make-a-Wish Foundation — along with a few reporters watched the film’s stars including Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom, as well as fellow Disney employees like the ever-adorable Teri Hatcher preen on the red carpet, had a lavish dinner, and watched the 167-minute opus on a 100-by-50-foot screen on Tom Sawyer’s Island. Disney’s security force was of course on the lookout for the other type of pirates, but it will be interesting to see if the first reviews leak out in advance of Monday night’s first official press screening in New York.
