Sex comedies work best with light touch, and as the ponderous title (a literal translation of the French term for orgasm) indicates, Australian writer-director Josh Lawson mostly doesn’t have it. His debut feature involves five different couples, sorted by kink.

The movie does have one funny segment, involving a couple (Kate Mulvany and Damon Herriman) whose “role-playing fetishism” gets a little too real. There’s also a rather sweet closer about a deaf man trying to call a phone sex line.

But those parts share a lot of time with unfunny things like a thread about a woman whose fetish is seeing her husband cry, so she arranges to have their dog go missing. And the linking device of a registered sex offender ringing doorbells to introduce himself is ghastly.
