Despite a whopping estimated $34.75 opening day — based on early figures and including $5M from midnight shows — box office forecaster Steve Mason at

has lowered his weekend prediction for “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” by 5 percent to $86.5M, which would still make it the No. 4 opening of all time for the first weekend in May and Hugh Jackman’s all-time best as a solo headliner. Mase has also downsized his predictions for the two other wide releases. He now figures “Ghost of GIrlfriends Past” with Matthew “Roll in the” McConaughey will finish the weekend with $16.5M — $2 million less than forecast on Thursday — and that the 3-D animation “Battle for Terra” will stuggle to even $1 million after averaging a pitiful $258 per screen on Friday.
