“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” sold a mind-boggling $43 million worth of tickets at 3,800 mostly sold-out midnight shows, Warner Bros. estimates today. That far eclipses the $30M midnight-show record set by “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.” The Potter finale has an excellent shot at bettering the $158 million three-day record set by “The Dark Knight” three years ago. The weekend’s only other new release, Disney’s “Winnie the Pooh,” will be lucky to make $10 million, box office prognisticators say.
