“WALL-E” is looking at a $66 million weekend based on early Friday numbers, predicts Steve Mason at Fantasy Moguls. That would make it Pixar’s No. 3 all time opening, behind “The Incredibles” and “Finding Nemo,” both of which opened a little north of $70 million. It’s also a victory for “Wanted” with James McAvoy and Angelina Jolie, pegged by Mason with a whopping $48 million by Sunday night. That far and away exceeds the record for an R-rated June opening, set by “Knocked Up” a year ago with $30.69 million and would make “Wanted” the No. 7 R opening of all time. No word yet on whether all those grotesquely fat characters in “WALL-E” (caused, a Disney rep reminded us yesterday, not by sloth but lack of gravity) have hurt sales of supersize popcorn at the concession stands. We’re also waiting for reviews from the Fatosphere
