Warner Bros. is reporting that the “Clash of the Titans” remake took in $4.2 million from around 3,000 locations for shows that began as early as 8 p.m. last night and ran into the wee hours. Though calling this an “excellent start,” the studio notes 3-D screens at some theaters weren’t available until this morning. The Hollywood Reporter terms the showing “solid but unspectacular,” and reports “Titans” tied for second place at the Thursday box office with Disney’s critically lambasted Miley Cyrus vehicle “The Last Song,” which was playing all day and now has $9.3M in the bank. The leader for the day was DreamWorks’ “How to Train Your Dragon,” collecting $5M on thousands of 3D screens.
