Roger Ebert announced today that the venerable “At the Movies,” canceled over the summer, will be returning next year with two new panelists: Elvis Mitchell, formerly of the New York Times, and Christy Lemire of the AP. Mitchell is a familiar presence on TV, but Lemire might be a new name to many, including me. As such, I looked into her recent reviews to see how her tastes ran. (Whatever the case, she’s probably more trustworthy than form “ATM” host Ben Lyons.) Here’s a snapshot:
* Lemire quite enjoyed this summer’s mega-dud “Cats and Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore.”
* She called “Inception” “one of the year’s best films.” Sounds about right.
* Dubbed “The Last Airbender” a “muddled mess.” Yep.
* Gave a thumbs up to “The A Team.” Uh oh.
* Liked the “Fame” remake. Judge for yourself.
* Praised Eddie Murphy’s “Imagine That.” Oof.
* Called “An Education” one of the best films of the year. Cool.
* Enjoyed Liam Neeson’s “Taken.” Double cool.
* Bored by “Twilight.”
* Panned “Tropic Thunder.” Wha?
