Officials in Cannes are promising beaches and restaurants along the Croisette — which suffered millions of euros in damages after being clobbered by unseasonal winds and waves up to 30 feet –will be cleaned up and fixed in time for next Wednesday’s opening of the Cannes Film Festival. But a regional official quoted by the Guardian says without elaborating: “The damage was considerable, so the festival will not proceed exactly as forecast.” Whatever that means.
