IFC has purchased U.S. rights to “Certified Copy,” a rare crowd-pleaser from Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami starring Juliette Binoche and opera singer William Shimell (in his screen debut at age 58), IndieWire reports. Entered in the competition for the Palm D’Or, the flick is set in Tuscany with dialogue mostly in English and French. It’s a romantic comedy about a French art gallery owner and an English writer who engage in non-kinky role play one afternoon. IFC has also picked up French director Xavier Dolan’s triangle drama “Heartbeats,” IndieWire reports.
