Devoted readers may recall that I raved about Woody Allen’s “You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger” when it premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May (my blog post, calling the film “a hilarious romantic farce,” is quoted in ads running today in the Village Voice and Time Out New York). But in today’s print edition, I delivered a considerably less enthusiastic 2.5 star review.

What happened? Well, I generally try to see a movie again if more than a couple of months elapse between my seeing it at a festival and its release. This is what I did with “You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger” and I just didn’t like it anywhere near as much.

On the other hand, I liked Allen’s “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” pretty much equally during viewings on both sides of the Atlantic.
