From V.A. Musetto in New York: The Brian De Palma mystery grows. As I posted here when I was at the World Film Festival in Montreal for the Labor Day weekend, the director cancelled his visit to the event, where he was to conduct a master class, because of what the fest called “crazy dental surgery.” Now I see, via the Web site De Palma a la Mod, that he made it to the Toronto Film Festival, where he is participating in the Talent Lab. But the site also quotes respected Montreal Gazette critic John Griffin as writing that “neither date nor venue were ever confirmed [for the master class], and despite various rumors — work, illness — his no show remains a mystery.” PS: I am enjoying the Toronto blogs by my colleagues Kyle Smith and Lou Lumenick.
