Disney’s “Frozen” is giving shareholders a warm, fuzzy feeling.

The holiday blockbuster is set to become the biggest animated movie of all time — overtaking Disney-owned Pixar’s “Toy Story 3” — when it is released on DVD this week, CEO Bob Iger told shareholders at the company’s annual shareholders meeting Tuesday.

The Walt Disney Animation Studios smash has banked $1.03 billion at the box office since its November debut, marking a comeback for the famed studio. Disney had lost most of its animation buzz to Pixar, whose “Toy Story 3” generated $1.06 billion at the box office.

“Disney Animation is on the rise,” said Tom McLean, editor of Animation magazine. “ ‘The Lion King’ was the last renaissance they had. People have been talking about Pixar and the disappointment in them.” Both units are run by John Lasseter.
