The lesser-known Powell-Keeler vehicles include their two musicals directed by Frank Borzage, “Shipmates Forever” and “Flirtation Walk,” as well as “Colleen,” directed by Alfred E. Green (who later helmed “The Jolson Story,” a biopic of Keeler’s then-husband). Powell appears solo in “Happiness Ahead” with Josephine Hutchison, while Keller partners with Lee Dixon and Ross Alexander in “Ready Willing and Able.” -Most of the musical numbers in these films were directed by Bobby Connelly, a second-string Busby Berkeley who most famously worked on “The Wizard of Oz.” He received an Oscar nomination for “You Are Too Beautiful For Words” (above), the giant typewriter number in “Ready, Willing and Able.” The latest additions are only available from Warner’s website and go for $20 apiece for DVDs and $15 for downloads (the initial 150 titles are now also available at Movies Unlimited). There is a 50 percent discount if you order all six Cooper or all five of the Powell/Keelers at the WA site, plus you can get an additional 25 percent off with the discount code XB592.

Meanwhile, Warner has quietly begun offering additional WA-like titles (with identifical packaging except for the Archive logo) as exclusives at Amazon.com for $26-29 apiece. These include a trio of Curtiz-directed classics, “20,000 Years in Sing Sing” starring Spencer Tracy and Bette Davis, “Bordertown” with Davis and Paul Muni and “The Unsuspected” starring Claude Rains. Also being offered (sans special features on burned discs) are such long-sought DVD titles as Elliot Nugent’s “The Male Animal” (from his play with James Thurber) starring Henry Fonda and Olivia DeHavilland; Raoul Walsh’s “The Strawberry Blonde” with James Cagney, Rita Hayworth and DeHavilland; as well as Lewis Seiler’s “Crime School” (a semi-remake of Cagney’s “The Mayor of Hell”) with Humphrey Bogart and the Dead End Kids.
