After more than a decade of making small, personal films, writer-director Ed Burns says his agents were urging him to branch out. “They sat me down and said, ‘Why don’t you stop making these little movies and go out for an open directing assignment at one of the studios? They keep calling. They’re interested in you. You could get a job directing a big romantic comedy and make a pile of dough.’ ” Burns tells the Post.
Burns read about a dozen scripts they sent his way, but ultimately passed on them all. “I don’t want to say what they were, but I’m thankful that my name is not on them,” he says.
So, “The Bounty Hunter?”
“Not that one but pretty close.”
