I saw “Evan Almighty” this week: wild animals, tame jokes. This PG comedy is so broad, so mild, so kid-friendly (the principal sources of humor are animal-poop jokes and the little dance Carell does when he’s happy) that it is looking like a huge hit for “Night at the Museum” lovers and the Bible Belt, plus it should raise Steve Carell’s profile enough to finally make his NBC show “The Office” a genuine hit. I can’t picture “Evan” doing as well as “Bruce Almighty,” though, because watching a guy build an ark isn’t as much fun as watching a guy with supreme powers.
