The 16th annual Tribeca Film Festival is barely under way, but movie buffs are already psyched about its closing on April 29 with back-to-back screenings of “The Godfather” and “The Godfather Part II,” our Richard Morgan reports.
Even more enticing is a post-screening panel to commemorate the 45th anniversary of “The Godfather’s” theatrical release.
The panel at Radio City Music Hall will no doubt inspire memorable lines from our favorite film “family” — including actors James Caan, Robert Duvall, Diane Keaton and Al Pacino, not to mention director Francis Ford Coppola.
But the one to beat was already spoken.
Last Wednesday, at a kickoff lunch for the 12-day affair, festival co-founder and “Godfather II” star Robert De Niro was visibly moved as he reminisced about the time he shared with his former castmates.
“Who would have thought the years [when] things were run by the Mafia would seem like the good ol’ days?” he said at Greek eatery Thalassa.
