“There’s no Beat Generation. It’s just a bunch of guys trying to get published,” says James Franco as Allen Ginsberg in the compelling new trailer for “Howl,” via Daily Intel. That’s maybe the funniest – and possibly most accurate – summary of that bunch I’ve ever heard. The surrounding cast is promising: Jon Hamm, Mary-Louise Parker, David Strathairn, Jeff Daniels, and hello, Treat Williams, nice to see you again. And Franco looks to be doing a decent Ginsberg, though IMO nothing will ever be quite as spot-on as his portrayal of James Dean.
