I picked six categories at last night’s Golden Globes for The Buzzmeter last week and was wrong in four of them. At least I had plenty of company among other prognosticators in picking “No Country for Old Men” as Best Picture/Drama (“Atonement” won) and Ellen Page for Best Actress/Musical or Comedy (Marion Cotillard won for “La Vie En Rose”). I also missed the boat on “Sweeney Todd,” though I’m still not convinced this is going to be nominated for the Best Picture Oscar. We may have a better idea after the Producers Guild of America Awards nominations are announced at 1 p.m. New York time today. I’ll have a new set of Oscar predix tomorrow, my last before the nominations are announced a week later. Meanwhile, my very esteemed colleague Linda Stasi, who watched several different versions of the Globes “press conference” on TV, thinks it was preferable to the usual show. Variety has more details on the chaotic scene at the Beverly Hilton, and reactions from the winners. Julian Schnabel of “The Diving Bell and the Butterfly” was in luggage claim at JFK.
