A kill-a-minute gore-a-thon whose twist is so obvious your grandma Edna will see it coming, “Kite” never gets off the ground.
Based on an underground Japanese anime, this direct-to-video caliber action flick stars a dull India Eisley as a schoolgirl killer who, in a future dystopia, mows down baddies by the dozen in an effort to destroy a ring of sex-slavers. Possibly my favorite assassination is the shish kebab skewer she rams through one guy’s ears.
Samuel L. Jackson, on hand as the mentor who knew her dad (whose back story emerges fitfully), is the only sign of professionalism about this shoddy D-rate enterprise, but even he never has any memorable moments.
