One of the most successful conservative filmmaker of recent decades was John Hughes, but alas he wasn’t willing or able to get much conservative content into his films. A case in point: “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” which just marked its 25th anniversary. Ben Shapiro points out that a line mocking hippie-ism was cut from the movie. I was never a big fan of the movie, which struck me as just a silly kiddie fantasy at the time. I would have liked it a lot more if it had been a little more pointed about sunny Reaganite young adults’ politics in the 1980s versus those of their Boomer parents. I think I’ve seen it but once to this day.
