It’s high time Katherine Heigl sent up her image as a controlling bitch in heels; too bad her dark comic turn takes place in an otherwise dreadful, misogynistic slog of a film. “Home Sweet Hell” sees Heigl playing Mona Champagne, a scarily uptight housewife who’s afflicted with a literally violent strain of OCD. Her husband, Don (Patrick Wilson), is a doormat of a man who sleeps with an employee (Jordana Brewster) at his furniture store on the side.

When his mistress announces a pregnancy and her plans to blackmail Don, Mona insists they must get rid of her. The ensuing bloodbath, which extends to a completely gratuitous strip-club scene and the description of one dead, impaled stripper as a “kebab,” squanders any shot at being an enjoyably bad-taste outing and, instead, just wallows in genuine badness.
