Bruce Beresford, the 80-year-old Australian-born filmmaker, will receive this year’s Honorary Maverick Award at the Woodstock Film Festival, Oct. 2 at BSP Studios in Kingston. Surely there is no coincidence that announcement of the prize comes less than two weeks after Beresford was in Woodstock shooting his latest, ”Peace, Love & Misunderstanding,” featuring Jane Fonda as a hippie grandmother. Beresford’s resume also includes “Breaker Morant” (1980), “Tender Mercies” (1983) and “Driving Miss Daisy” (1989). This year’s festival will run Sept. 29-Oct. 3 in the upstate hippie haven Woodstock and nearby towns. See you there!
