Fox is not going to be screening “Aliens Vs. Predator: Requiem,” opening Christmas Day. Not a surprise. They didn’t subject the last one to advance critical scrutiny either, and it opened to a whopping $38 million in August 2004. Most print outlets didn’t bother reviewing last Christmas’ no-screening opening, the Weinsteins’ remake of “Black Christmas.” Somehow we don’t think many critics will be skipping holiday dinner — even in a Chinese restaurant — to watch slimy monsters chase Steven Pasquale and Reiko Aylesworth for 86 minutes under the direction of an entity billed as The Brothers Strouse.
