I thought it was an April Fool’s joke. But sadly, the calendar informs me otherwise. Yes, it’s true: “Big Momma’s House 3” is a go.
Because after Tyler Perry’s Madea movies and Eddie Murphy’s “Norbit” — the movie that cost him an Oscar for “Dreamgirls” — audiences still haven’t had their fill of cross-dressing black dudes in fat suits. Whenever you sit through a movie like “Date Night” and wonder why critics (such as my colleague Lou Lumenick) give it 2 1/2 stars, remember — it’s because we have to save up the 1-star-and-below ratings for the truly awful pictures.
