The master filmmaker, whose ultra-serious films like “The Seventh Seal” (above) were laced with mordant humor, would surely be amused that news of his passing arrives simulaneously with the demise of French actor Michel Serrault (“La Cage Aux Folles”)and the death of TV talk show host Tom Snyder.
