When Variety shockingly whacked the highly respected Anne Thompson, this week, she announced on her widely read Variety blog that she was “in negotiations” to continue having the blog hosted by the trade rag. But today it disappeared from Variety’s blog menu, though it can still be accessed externally via a Google search as of this writing. The question is whether the blog itself (which still lists Anne has deputy editor of variety.com) will disappear next, or this is merely the latest of the many screwups from the gearheads who run Variety’s website, which gets harder to negotiate with every redesign. Or maybe they laid off the web people, too.
