It’s a reunion of prehistoric proportions.
Universal Pictures has secured three iconic names from the original “Jurassic Park” flick for its upcoming “Jurassic World 3.” Laura Dern, 52, Sam Neill, 72, and Jeff Goldblum, 66, will all return for the flick, more than 26 years after the first film roared onto screens in 1993.
It was announced that the trio would be taking part in the upcoming movie at a Wednesday night screening of “Battle at Big Rock.” The short film about the “Jurassic World” dinosaurs was released by director Colin Trevorrow, who will also be returning for “Jurassic World 3” alongside executive producer and franchise founder Steven Spielberg.
“For those that don’t know, this was a HUGE surprise tonight,” tweeted the editor-in-chief of entertainment news site Collider from the Hollywood screening. “A fan asked Colin Trevorrow if any of the original cast was coming back in JW3 and he was like yes and then introduced Laura Dern to the shocked audience.”
The last “Jurassic World” installment, “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom,” came out in June 2018.
Also in the works from the worldwide $3 billion box office franchise is “Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous,” which is set to debut in 2020.
“Jurassic World 3” will hit theaters on June 11, 2021.
