Jonathan Groff almost wet the set while filming a fight scene with Keanu Reeves for “The Matrix Resurrections,” he revealed.
The 36-year-old said there was “heat emanating from his groin” while facing off with Reeves, who plays the main character Neo.
“When it was over, I was like, ‘I think I wet my pants. I think I peed myself,'” Groff told Entertainment Weekly. “You know when you pee yourself you feel that, like, hot urine? … But then, it didn’t go away.”
In the newest installment, Groff portrays Agent Smith, which was previously played by Hugo Weaving in the film series.
Co-star Carrie-Anne Moss had her own theory about the “Frozen” star’s urine scare: “When I shoot a gun, I can look really cool in a scene, but afterward it’s like my body doesn’t know it’s not real, and it’s really intense … My body has a physical reaction to it.”

Carrie-Anne Moss chalked up Groff’s speculation to adrenaline during the fight scene. REUTERSEarlier this month, 57-year-old Reeves admitted a trans character was omitted from the original 1999 script for “The Matrix.”
An androgynous character named Switch was supposed to be played by a woman in the matrix and a man in the real world, but, according to Reeves, “the studio wasn’t ready for that.”
“The Matrix” film series is full of fight scenes, during which Groff said he felt a “hot” sensation. Everett CollectionThe movie features Reeves, Moss and other members of the original cast, as well as Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who confirmed he would be playing a version of Morpheus.
The fourth installment of the film series, “The Matrix Resurrections,” will hit theaters and begin streaming on HBO Max Tuesday, Dec. 22.
