“Hairspray” somehow won the ensemble award from the Broadcast Film Critics Association, beating out “No Country for Old Men,” “Juno,” “Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead,” “Sweeney Todd” and “Gone Baby Gone.” Odd couple presenters Marion Cotillard and Emile Hirsch gave the award to Queen Latifah, Nikki Blonsky and three other young cast members. John Travolta, Michelle Pfeiffer, James Marsden and Chris Walken didn’t show up. Apparently a lot of big stars stayed home: a good part of the red carpet show was devoted to Allison Janney and J.K. Simmons, the charming character actors who play the parents in “Juno.”
