Facing a scandal that could cost the group their lucrative NBC contract, the HFPA threw their longtime pal Harvey Weinstein under a bus and joined virtually every other awards group in giving its top prize — best picture, drama — to “The Social Network” — a picture that, unlike Harvey’s “The King’s Speech” will not especially benefit from the Glove imprimatur at this point. “The Social Network” now looks like a done deal on Oscar night. I thought the HFPA would go with “The King’s Speech,” so my final tally for a rather dull evening was eight correct predictions out of 10. Good night.
