The complete list is available, and it’s no surprise that David Fincher’s “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” the nominal Oscar frontrunner, tops the list with five nominations, including best picture and best director. What’s somewhat surprising is that it shares that honor with Ron Howard’s “Frost/Nixon,” even though Michael Sheen got snubbed in the best supporting actory category, though Ralph Fiennes got a nod for the forgotten “The Duchess.” John Patrick’s Shanley’s “Doubt” also scored five nods, but missed the crucial best picture and best director nods, scoring four acting nods (Meryl Streep, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Viola Davis, Amy Adams) and one for Shanley’s script.
