“I have a habit of not winning things,” apologized Kate Winslet, who thanked a lot of people for winning the first globe of the evening, best supporting actress, for “The Reader.” She mentioned the other nominees — Amy Adams, Penelope Cruz, Viola Davis and Marisa Tomei, and thanked a long list that included her husband, her children, the hair and makeup department on “The Reader” as well as deceased executive producers Sydney Pollack and Anthony Minghella. Interestingly, she didn’t mention the film’s very alive senior producers, the feuding Harvey Weinstein and Scott Rudin, who are probably grateful for whatever momentum the Globes may lend “The Reader,” which is struggling at the box office. This is likely their only win tonight. Winslet pulled off a slight upset over another Weinstein star, Penelope Cruz in “Vicky Cristina Barcelona.”
