“This is the only time I’m going to be in competition with Clint Eastwood — feels pretty good, too,” joked Bruce Springsteen in picking up a globe for best song for the title song of “The Wrestler.” Absurdly, this was Eastwood’s only nomination for the evening from the merry band of freeloaders. Clint had the last laugh, though — the $29 million wide opening of “Gran Torino,” Clint’s best ever, was the talk of Hollywood last night. And now I’m taking a break during a brace of TV awards.
