Perhaps the biggest surprise of the morning is the inclusion of Jason Reitman as Best Director for “Juno,” which was widely considered an accomplishment mainly by Ellen Page and Diablo Cody, who as expected were nominated for Best Actress and Best Original Screenplay. “Juno” was nominated for Best Picture, and this serious comedy provides an interesting alternative to the four other grim titles in the category: “There Will Be Blood,” “No Country for Old Men,” “Atonement” and “Michael Clayton.”
