Hugh Jackman’s opening musical salute to the five Best Picture nominees — rhyming “excrement” with “sentiment” — was a show stopper in the wrong sense. Billy Crystal he’s not. Poor Anne Hathaway got to play Rosemary Woods — wonder how many people watching even know who she won? At least it was better than Hugh’s opening patter: “Everything is being downsized because of the recession. Next year, I’m starring in a movie called ‘New Zealand.’ ” Oh my god, he’s sitting in Frank Langella’s lap.
