Many Americans probably tuned out of one of the dullest Oscar shows ever, safe in the knowledge that prohibitive favorite “No Country for Old Men” won Best Picture at 11:45 p.m. While it’s certainly a worthy winner, a Weinstein-style campaign at a reported cost of $15 million certainly didn’t hurt. Nor did a controversial ending; of course, “There Will Be Blood” also had one, while a third nominee, “Juno” had a problematic first reel. I ended up with a rather ugly 13 for 24. (I fared better in the 13 categories I predicted in Sunday’s Post, tying Kyle Smith at 9 apiece. Eight of the nine were chosen by both of us, while Kyle correctly picked Marion Cotillard for Best Actress and I correctly predicted “Sweeney Todd” would triumph for art direction).
