Screen Grab’s clever and entertaining roundup of the 10 Most Dangerous Movies of All Time includes such life-risking projects as “Fitzcarraldo,” “Apocalypse Now” and “Heaven’s Gate.” Less obvious choices on the list include the ill-fated “Twilight Zone: The Movie,” which led to a controversial triple manslaughter trial, and my favorite: “The Conqueror” (1956) a ludicrous epic in which John Wayne played Genghis Khan (aka Temujin). This film was shot just downwind of a nuclear test site; Wayne and at least 90 other people involved with the film (including co-stars Susan Hayward and Agnes Moorehead, as well as director Dick Powell) succumbed to cancer. And you thought it was because the Duke smoked.
