Marathon Man
To prepare a piece on the Paul Thomas Anderson retrospective this weekend at the Museum of the Moving Image, S.T. Van Airsdale of The Reeler watched all four of Anderson’s earlier movies — “Hard Eight,” “Boogie Nights,” “Magnolia” (Tom Cruise and Jason Robards are pictured in my favorite film of 1999) and “Punch-Drunk Love,” then caught “There Will Be Blood” again at a theater. That’s five movies, 699 minutes — in a single day. Impressive. But what’s what this “plot summaries from Rotten Tomatoes?”
