“Fifty Shades of Grey” has met its raunchy match.

Some viewers are in disbelief over the trailer for Emerald Fennell’s 2026 Valentine’s Day movie “Wuthering Heights” that includes many erotic scenes.

The film, starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi, adapts Emily Brontë’s 1847 novel about two families of the landed gentry living on the West Yorkshire moors.

But the trailer, released Wednesday, focuses more on the sexual relationship between Robbie and Elordi’s characters, Catherine and Heathcliff.

The minute-and-a-half video, played to the Charli xcx song “Everything is romantic” from her album “Brat,” shows Elordi, 28, sucking Robbie’s fingers twice, as well as someone placing their finger into a fish’s mouth.

The footage also includes suggestive imagery of egg yolks running through someone’s fingers and dough being rolled by someone’s hands. BDSM is also included in the trailer.

Elordi is shirtless in a few shots and has multiple steamy moments with Robbie, 35.

After the trailer went live, fans took to X to express their shock over the NSFW footage.

“Just saw the teaser for #WutheringHeights and it is way worse than I expected… is it me or is it giving soft porn vibes..?? smh,” one person wrote.

“Not everything needs to be porn adjacent,” another account wrote.

“So they made heathcliff white, catherine blonde, and added bdsm?? this isn’t wuthering heights lol,” a third fan tweeted.

Another unhappy viewer wrote, “This has nothing to do with wuthering heights, looks more like a bodice ripper / bridgerton adaptation. Idk what fennell was thinking with this project, it’s truly horrendous & insulting to the source material.”

Fans also compared the trailer to the erotic “Fifty Shades” franchise.

“Emily Bronte work is turned into fifty shades,” one fan tweeted.

“I didn’t know Wuthering Heights was the fourth installment in the 50 Shades of Grey franchise!” a different fan commented on the YouTube trailer.

Someone else on YouTube joked, “Fifty Shades of Grey: 1800s Version.”

According to World of Reel, Fennell’s “Wuthering Heights” adaptation had a test screening last month in Dallas and there was a “mixed” reaction from the audience.

One audience member reportedly described the film as “aggressively provocative and tonally abrasive.”

The movie reportedly opens with a public hanging where “a condemned man ejaculates mid-execution, sending the onlooking crowd into a kind of orgiastic frenzy.”

There are also “several masturbation scenes” and a moment where “a woman is strapped into a horse’s reins for a BDSM-tinged encounter” in the film, according to World of Reel.

However, one attendee told the website that Robbie and Elordi “deliver committed performances with great chemistry,” though their characters are “cold” and “unlikeable.”

Fennell previously teamed up with the two actors on the also-raunchy 2023 film “Saltburn.” Fennell directed and produced the project, Robbie served as a producer with her and Elordi starred alongside Barry Keoghan and Rosamund Pike.

The “Wuthering Heights” cast also includes Owen Cooper, Hong Chau, Alison Oliver and Shazad Latif. Fennell and Robbie are producing the project alongside Josey McNamara.

The “Barbie” star told MTV about the film in August, “Just you wait. It’s bananas. It’s great. It’s brilliant.”

“Wuthering Heights” will be released Feb. 14, 2026.
