So, you’re probably wondering, what were the five best South Korean films of the past 10 years? Editors at the Seoul-based bi-monthly magazine Korean Cinema Today asked 40 international critics, including this one, to come up with lists. Bong Joon-ho’s 2003 police thriller “Memories of Murder” led the list, followed by Park Chan-wook’s revenge thriller “Oldboy” (2003), Lee Chang-dong’s tear-jerker “Secret Sunshine (2007), Bong’s monster epic “The Host” (2006) and Park’s “Joint Security Area” (2000), set in the DMZ separating the two Koreas.
