The Museum of the Moving Image will reopen on Jan. 15 following a multi-year, $67 million project to redesign and nearly double the size of its facilities in Astoria, Queens, it was announced today. The 264-seat main theater will open with a five-week series called “Recovered Treasures: Great Films From World Archives,” which will present 20 newly restored films. That will be followed by a comprehensive retrospective devoted to French director Alain Renais. A release with full details is here.
