The cream of what most critics called a meagre crop at this year’s Sundance Film Festival will be on view at this year’s New Directors/New Films. In the lineup announced today, the program at the Walter Reade Theater and the Museum of Modern Art will be opening with the Sundance dramatic prize winner “Frozen River,” directed by the pictured Courtney Hunt. Other Sundance faves on view are “Ballast,” which won the directing award for Lance Hammer, and “Sleep Dealer,” which took the screenwriting award. Kind of makes you wonder what they’re going to show at the Sundance at BAM festival in May, not to mention the Tribeca Film Festival. Tickets for New Directors/New Films go on sale Friday, March 7, at 11:30 a.m.
Tickets for all New Directors/New Films screenings are available at the Walter Reade Theater box office (165 W. 65th Street, upper level; cash only), online at filmlinc.com (plus a $1.25 service charge per ticket), and by phone at CENTERCHARGE, (212) 721-6500 (plus a $6.00 handling charge per ticket). Tickets for MoMA screenings are also available at MoMAâs Film desk ( 11 W. 53rd Street ; cash or credit card).
New Directors/New Films ticket prices are $12 for the public; $10 for Film Society and MoMA members with a limit of two member priced tickets per screening.
HBO Films Roundtable tickets are $10 for the public; $6 for Film Society and MoMA members.
Tickets for ND/NF Classics are $11; $7 for Film Society members, MoMA members, students and seniors. Admission to the first ND/NF Classics screening of each day includes a complimentary ticket to the dayâs second ND/NF Classics screening.
