You know entertainment journalists are starting to scrape beneath the bottom of the barrel when The Washington Post resorts to counting laurels in movie ads and the Los Angeles ends a totally obvious and interminable piece on Oscar campaigning with a groaner like this: “The Oscars are about honoring the people who make the films … but also about getting people excited about going to the movies. It wasn’t started by the committee for the Nobel Peace Prize.”
