The endless Oscar season will stretch into the first week of March next year, the academy announced yesterday. As it did four years ago, the academy is moving the ceremony back a week, to March 7 2010, to avoid conflicting with the closing ceremonies of the Winter Olympics in Vancouver. This year’s ceremonies took place on Feb. 22 — the last Sunday of the month, where Oscars were moved from their longtime late March date in 2004. Next year’s nominations will be announced on February 2.
