Warner Bros. announced it plans to open the flick wide on Dec. 11, a date it shares with Jackson’s adaptation of Alice Sebold‘s “The Lovely Bones,” which is being distributed by Paramount for DreamWorks. Last year, Warner got a lot of grief for opening Clint’s “Gran Torino” in limited release for three weeks before going wide in January. That didn’t work out too badly; it was Eastwood’s most successful film (not factoring in inflation), grossing $148 million in the U.S. and $112 million overseas on a $30 million budget.
