Not to dwell on “Moon,” but among its other attributes is its trippy score, by Clint Mansell. Perhaps not surprising, given that this is the directorial debut of David Bowie’s son.

Relatedly, sci-fi blog io9 has compiled a list of their 10 Best Science Fiction Score Composers, which includes household names like John Williams and Danny Elfman (who, although he seems to write the same song over and over, always does it well) and relative newcomers like “Battlestar Galactica”‘s Bear McCreary. A regrettable omission: Michael Boddicker, of “The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension.” Come on! See what I’m talking about after the jump.
