My usual attire at film festivals is neat jeans, a nice jacket and red Converse sneakers. Dressed that way, I have gone to parties from New York to London to Tokyo to Moscow to Cairo, with nary a complaint. Friday night I was refused admittance to the opening night party at the Karlovy Vary fest in the Czech Republic. ‘”This is black tie,” the young woman at the door told me when I handed her my invitation, even though most other gentleman were not wearing formal attire. Maybe it was the red Converse, or the neat Levis. I guess the people who run the festival do not realize that the Communists no longer run their country. Stay tune for updates.
