Anjelica Huston was in hot water after a recent interview in which the actress said she only wants to make movies “that aren’t apologetically humble or humiliating, like ‘Band of cheerleaders gets back together for one last hurrah.’”

Well, she’s right. “Poms” is an embarrassment.

Fresh off another clunker, “Book Club,” Diane Keaton is back with the all-women comedy, which is almost exactly as Huston describes: Martha (Keaton) moves from New York to a retirement village in Florida called Sun Springs, and after a brief existential crisis, decides to start an elderly cheer squad.

But it’s not “Bring It On” — it’s “Turn It Off!”

Keaton, whose character secretly has cancer, overplays, and big-personality actresses like Pam Grier and Rhea Perlman are unfairly muted. Jacki Weaver as the promiscuous Sheryl is the only winner here.

Still, “Poms” mostly patronizes older people as it turns them into punchlines. Be regressive! B-E regressive!
