Kevin McCarthy, who died Sept. 11 at age 96, appeared in more than 200 stage, TV and movie roles. But he’ll always be best remembered for “Invasion of the Body Snatchers,” Don Siegel’s 1956 sci-fi classic. McCarthy plays a small-town California doctor who discovers that his friends and neighbors are being replaced by duplicates spawned from  alien pods. The duplicates look the same as always, but they’re minus all human emotion. It’s left to Bennell and his girlfriend, divorcee Becky Driscoll (Dana Wynder), to fight back. The movie was remade twice, but Siegel’s version remains the one to see.
