Variety reports that NBC is on the verge of abandoning next Sunday’s Golden Globe telecast because of the Screen Actors Guild’s vow that its members won’t take place in a struck show. But without a telecast, the way is apparently open for the Globes to be operated as a private party for the stars for the first time since 1979. Not exactly an earth-shattering turn of events. An announcement is expected tomorrow. Meanwhile Jeff Wells reports at Hollywood Elsewhere the nominees are expected to show up for tomorrow night’s Critics Choice Award, which will be telecast on VH1. Neither VH1 nor the show’s producers are Writers Guild signatories.
